Everyday Interactions with Assistive Technologies (ATs) (Virtual)

18 May 2023 | 11:30 AM-12:30 PM America/New_York (United States of America)

People with blindness, low vision, or even reduced vision use assistive technology (AT) to interact with software applications on computers, smartphones, and other small-size wearable devices. People with visual impairments usually stick to one or two main assistive technologies and are often unaware of other potentially useful ATs or even advanced features in their preferred ATs that can significantly speed up their everyday interaction with software applications while also reducing the interaction workload. In this presentation, Old Dominion University Computer Science PhD students will discuss and demonstrate the lesser known yet useful functionalities of popular Ats and introduce a wide array of uncommon ATs. Hosted by Old Dominion University Libraries in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science in Old Dominion University’s College of Sciences.
