Put Down Your Mouse Challenge (Virtual)

16 May 2024 | 9:00 AM-5:00 PM America/New_York (Watertown, MA, United States of America)

We are excited to announce that Perkins School for the Blind will host Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) on May 16, 2024. This will be our first time organizing the event, and it promises to be a day full of insightful activities focused on promoting digital accessibility and inclusion for the more than 1 billion people with disabilities across the world. The day will kick off with the “Put Down Your Mouse” challenge, inviting all of us to relinquish our computer mouse and navigate websites and applications using keyboard shortcuts alone. This exercise aims to simulate the user experience of individuals who rely solely on a keyboard to access digital content, and to emphasize the necessity of accessible web design. We encourage everyone to participate and share their experiences to foster a greater understanding of accessibility challenges and solutions. Try it for all or any part of the day! 10 minutes, 1 hour, all day! Gain a greater understanding of accessibility challenges and solutions

Zugänglichkeit transdisziplinär: BarriereFREIES Gaming und Arbeiten (In Person)

16 May 2024 | 9:00 AM-6:00 PM Europe/Berlin (Bonn, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany)

Anlässlich des Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) am Do 16. Testing Demo / TIY – Test It Yourself Reifegrad Einstieg Assessment für Organisationen Barrierefreie SVG (Vektor Bilder) Barrierefreiheit in Dokumente MS 365, Google Workspaces, PDF

Over the last several years, Liberty Mutual has been on a multi-year journey to create an even more inclusive and accessible workplace. To increase the company’s digital accessibility and inclusion practices, in May, we launched a month-long series of virtual and in-person events to enrich employees understanding of what it means to create accessible products. Focused on design and development, through 15 events we explored topics such as inclusive innovation, accessible-first engineering, web accessibility and more. The program was run in partnership with the organization’s employee resource group (ERG), Able@Liberty + Allies – which supports people with disabilities, caregivers, and family members – providing first-person insight into the impact of accessible product design.
