GAAD Social at the Firkin – Conversations That Matter (In Person)

15 May 2025 | 6:00 PM-8:00 PM America/Toronto (Toronto, Canada)

To mark Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), we’re doing things a little differently this month. No panel. No slides. Just time together. Join us for a relaxed, in-person social at the Firkin on Yonge. This is a chance to reconnect with the community, meet new folks, share a few stories, and have some meaningful conversations. As part of the evening, we’re inviting anyone who’s interested to take part in mini lightning prompts. These are three-minute, opt-in moments to share something from your own accessibility journey — a small win, a helpful tool, a learning moment, or something you’re thinking about. Whether you’re new to the space or a longtime practitioner, everyone has something valuable to contribute. The goal is to keep things casual and welcoming. No need to prep slides or have a big polished story. Just come as you are and be part of the conversation.

15 May 2025 | 6:30 PM-7:30 PM America/Santiago (Chile)

(Virtual)

15 May 2025 | 8:00 PM-10:00 PM America/Sao_Paulo (São Paulo, SP, Brazil)

English: Artificial Intelligence + Accessibility, How far can you REALLY go? Talking about artificial intelligence is common these days. And when we talk about accessibility, it’s no different. But after all, how far can we go with this topic? How far can we go? Is everything we see and hear really true? Answering these questions assertively requires a high level of involvement with new trends and technologies. And that’s why it’s important to understand these issues in depth, so we don’t run the risk of saying something that doesn’t match reality. Or that isn’t possible to do. Understanding the limitations of the machine and the design restrictions are essential to understanding “how far we can go” and that’s what we’ll see in this masterclass.
