We will feature a series of presentations on digital accessibility, delivered by the Perkins digital accessibility team. These sessions will cover the basics of digital accessibility, as well as solutions to the most common accessibility issues when creating and designing digital content.

For years, the state of digital accessibility has made slow progress; WebAIM’s 2024 report on website accessibility found that 95.9% of home pages had detected Web Content Accessibility Guideline (WCAG) 2 failures. And businesses are paying the price. How do you ensure that your organization isn’t missing out on growth opportunities by not delivering accessible digital experiences? How do you encourage and build an accessibility-first mentality within your organization? And how do you ensure education, accountability, and compliance? Join us for a fireside chat between Jennifer Griffin Smith, Matt Wettmore, and Lars Sørensen as they take an honest look at the challenges of tackling digital accessibility at an organizational level, how technology can be both a benefit and a pitfall, and how an accessibility focus can help you grow your business. This session will be moderated by Mary Blabaum.

Ahead of Engage London 2024, we’ll be celebrating Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) on May 16th with a dedicated fireside chat on the landscape of digital accessibility in Europe. What challenges are European organizations facing when it comes to accessibility? What is a realistic approach for organizations looking to achieve compliance? And more importantly, what are the consequences for not staying up-to-date with accessibility practices? Join us for a special Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) webinar where we’ll be joined by the team at The Salvation Army to hear how they’ve tackled website accessibility. Hear from Leah MacGibbon, Joseph Pinkard and Erryn Barlow on how they stayed inspired to tackle web accessibility and being a more digitally inclusive organisation.

Digital accessibility supports and resources to help employees incorporate accessibility into their work will be shared by Lisa Yang, digital accessibility coordinator.
