Getting Ready for GAAD (Activity)

From 9.00am on 22 April until Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) on 20 May, University of Brighton’s Digital Learning Team are celebrating and making change in advance of GAAD. This will include weekly blog posts featuring accessibility tips on the Digital Learning Team Blog (https://blogs.brighton.ac.uk/elearningteam/category/global-accessibility-awareness-day/). We will also share tips, tutorials, videos, and accessibility pledges using the hashtag #GAADDeeds on Twitter.

PDF Accessibility Webinar: The War on PDFs (Virtual)

Blackboard is hosting an Accessibility Online Course in support of GAAD’s mission, titled “Equity and Inclusion in Higher Education: Insights and Stories from the Ally Community.” This 4-week asynchronous, self-paced course will encompass industry research, best practice sharing from members of our accessibility community, insightful data mined through Blackboard Ally, strategies and tips for ensuring equitable opportunities for success, and more.

Digital Accessibility in LATAM (Virtual)

Our purpose is to give visibility to the digital inclusion of the more than one billion people with disabilities. In this Digital Workshop, Consuelo Correa Barros, graphic designer and teacher of Inclusive Design at “Universidad del Desarrollo” and activist for accessibility in Latin America, will talk to us from Chile about digital accessibility trends in LATAM. In addition, Carmen García, from Siteimprove, will tell us why being a digitally inclusive organization is the big challenge of 2021.
