The session featuring insights from inclusive retail accessibility practices at IKEA. Participants will learn how accessibility research is translated into real-world retail experiences, including assisted shopping services and navigational accessibility solutions such as NaviLens. The session also highlights how inclusive design research shapes customer experiences at a global scale. All sessions are FREE. Sign language Interpreter (BISINDO) will be provided.

As part of our annual event, the One Accessibility Initiative will commemorate the 2026 GAAD event with a virtual meet-up. It will enable Local Guides, accessibility champions and enthusiasts assess our contributions on Google Maps and how to make more impacts across the world beyond awareness.

To honor Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we are hosting a webinar on Accessibility Overlays, one of the most controversial issues in the field. Accessibility overlays or widgets are often promoted as a quick fix for accessibility, leading many to believe that a website without one is inherently inaccessible. This is not true. We often challenge organizations on this misconception because vendors aggressively sell overlays as quick compliance solutions. Unfortunately, many businesses buy into it, often neglecting the most important aspect: the user. Web accessibility is not only about compliance but also about the overall user experience.

In this webinar, we will discuss the following:

1. What do accessibility overlays actually do? How do they work?
2. What’s their real impact on your digital products’ accessibility?

4. What to do instead of using accessibility overlays

The 4th Thursday ADA Talks are monthly webinars on topics about the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), disability rights, and access that run for 1 hour on the 4th Thursday from January to October 2026 (10 webinars). For digital accessibility, a versatile design is essential—one that can adapt to different contexts and usage patterns. Since not all users interact with interfaces in the same way—often relying on different assistive technologies and strategies—it is crucial to consider flexible solutions, such as scalable fonts, which allow reading to be adjusted to individual needs. Font scaling, common in mobile devices and web browsers, enables text to be proportionally enlarged to ensure full readability. Design tools like Figma, through the use of variables, provide design teams with agile testing models for different scenarios still in the design phase. In this webinar, we will explore in practice how you can use Figma variables to help test font scaling versions of interfaces.

An online discussion featuring Indonesian diaspora developers working in Europe, sharing their experiences implementing accessibility practices within international product teams. The session explores workplace culture, accessibility standards, organizational challenges, and practical lessons from building accessibility initiatives from the ground up in European tech environments. While accessibility integration in local Indonesian product development practices may still be relatively uncommon, this session brings perspectives from two countries with more mature accessibility ecosystems, Norway and the Netherlands, and examines how regulations, organizational culture, and industry expectations shape accessible digital products. Whether accessibility expertise is seen as a practical skill to improve inaccessible Indonesian digital products, a professional advantage for working in global companies, or even part of the preparation for #KaburAjaDulu, this discussion aims to provide grounded insights into how accessibility is applied in real production environments — beyond theory, compliance checklists, or temporary trends.
