“An Accessibility Starter Pack: Content Creator Edition” is a Google Slides deck that presents a practical, easy-to-follow introduction to creating more inclusive digital content. This presentation highlights three core accessibility essentials for content creators: writing effective ALT text, using proper heading structure, and creating clear, descriptive links.

Mangfold i mai is a two-day festival on inclusion, equity and accessibility, located in Oslo, Norway. While on-site-access is limited, we stream as much as we can openly on mangfoldimai.no. Most of the talks are given in Norwegian, with a couple of exceptions in English. We have speakers from the public and private sector, sharing knowledge and tools. This year we focus on equity and accessibility in product and service development, especially in the public sector.

Neurodiversität mitdenken: AuD(H)S-Personas für Open-Source-Projekte

Anlässlich des Global Accessibility Awareness Day laden wir zu einem Workshop rund um digitale Barrierefreiheit, Neurodiversität und inklusive Software-Entwicklung ein. Digitale Barrierefreiheit bedeutet mehr als Kontraste, Screenreader-Support und Tastaturbedienung. Auch kognitive Zugänglichkeit, klare Strukturen und soziale Sicherheit entscheiden darüber, wer an Software und Open Source Projekten wirklich teilhaben kann. Menschen mit AuD(H)S – also Personen im Autismus- und/oder ADHS-Spektrum – werden dabei häufig übersehen. Dabei beeinflussen Reizverarbeitung, Aufmerksamkeit, Informationsstruktur, Kommunikation und Community-Dynamiken maßgeblich, wie zugänglich Software bzw. Open-Source-Projekte und -Communities tatsächlich sind.

Themen im Workshop:

Im Workshop werden Personas für ein AuD(H)S-reflektiertes Design vorgestellt und gemeinsam besprochen, wie diese in der Praxis eingesetzt werden können. Dieses Mal geht es jedoch nicht um klassische Usability-Fragen, sondern auch um Reflexion der eigenen Rollen/Funktionen im Software-Entwicklungsprozess:

• Welche Hürden entstehen für neurodivergente Menschen?
• Welche impliziten Erwartungen prägen unsere Communities?
• Und wie können wir Entwicklungsprozesse bewusster und zugänglicher gestalten?

Der Workshop richtet sich an Entwickler:innen, Designer:innen, Maintainer:innen, Community-Verantwortliche und alle, die Open Source und digitale Produkte inklusiver gestalten möchten – unabhängig von Vorkenntnissen im Bereich Accessibility oder Neurodiversität.
