Signal Centers Accessibility Expo (In Person)

This year’s accessibility exposition provides an opportunity for vendors in the accessibility space to showcase products or services to individuals who may benefit from them. There is also an informational opportunity to hear what other organizations are doing in the world of accessibility, how Signal Centers’ Assistive Technology Services is serving the Chattanooga community, and ways to get further involved in the Signal Centers Accessibility Taskforce.

Global Accessibility Awareness Day – Includa BBQ (In Person)

Located at the old train sheds – Foreshore Park, we come together as a provider of Disability supports to share time and stories. Participants and their support workers come to enjoy a free BBQ lunch, craft and sport activities with Guest speakers telling their journey of Accessibility to technology as a disabled person. We have chosen to theme this BBQ with GAAD as we support people in the deaf blind community and also those with Motor and Cognitive impairments. To grow awareness in this space to what is possible.

All Abilities Expo (In Person)

Founded by the Northern Territory peak body for people with disability, the “All Abilities Expo” is a unique and interactive event that connects people with disabilities, carers, guardians, and families with disability service providers, community services, and government. The expo provides the opportunity to learn more about what is available in the Northern Territory, discuss individual requirements, and enable individual rights to choice and control. The expo also provides an opportunity to showcase presentations that promote inclusion, accessibility, equity, and diversity as a means of building awareness on the day. In promoting equity, admission to the “All Abilities Expo” is FREE to the community and includes “come n’ try” activities like wheelchair basketball, rugby, AFL, dance, craft, chess, as well as sensory stations, an animal petting area, face painting, balloon artist, and free food. As part of raising awareness, the “All Abilities Expo” is running on Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) as a way of spotlighting current programs and businesses that are inclusive and accessible, as well as promoting the opportunity for others to make the move towards inclusion, accessibility, equity, and diversity.

GAAD 2024: Meet the users (In Person)

We celebrate GAAD together with users with disabilities showing assistive technology in Stockholm, Sweden, 16 May 2024 Our experience is that accessibility never gets under the skin of people until they meet the users. That’s why we welcome anyone to learn more about digital accessibility and assistive technology – for free! Thursday 16 May at 15-18, the Funka Foundation invites you to an exciting and educational open house where people with different disabilities show how they use assistive technology. Göta Arkhuset, Repslagargatan 20, close to Medborgarplatsen. The event is part of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, come and celebrate with us! How do persons who are blind user the web? How can I best help people who experience difficulties with reading and writing? Does my website work for someone who controls their computer by voice alone? What is most important for people with low vision? Our GAAD open house will answer all your questions: • Meet users with disabilities who will demonstrate what works and doesn’t work for them • Experience how assistive technology works in real life • Meet our experts who can put your experiences into perspective • You’ll learn what you need to do as a developer, website owner, UX designer, graphic designer or web author to fulfil the accessibility requirements of the law – and make sure your digital services work for everyone! Global Accessibility Awareness Day bei hmmh (In Person)

Wir laden Sie herzlich zum Global Accessibility Awareness Day in den Weser Tower nach Bremen ein. Bei Snacks und Getränken halten unsere Expertinnen drei spannende Vorträge zum Thema Digitale Barrierefreiheit. 1. Mihaela Sartori (Accessibility Consultant) wird eine Einführung in die Thematik geben. Dabei wird sie auf die Key Facts, Zahlen und auf das im Juni 2025 in Kraft tretende Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz eingehen. 2. Cornelia Sachau (Product Owner) wird anhand eines fiktiven Projektes darstellen, wie Barrierefreiheit über Anforderungen ins Produkt einfließen kann. Dabei wird sie unter anderem Aspekte wie Zielgruppe, Akzeptanzkriterien und Qualitätssicherung beleuchten. 3. Kristin Rohleder (Accessibility Consultant) wird die Barrieren an Webseiten aufgedecken und erste Tipps geben, wie diese behoben werden könnten. Dabei werden ein Screenreader und verschiedene Tools zum Einsatz kommen, mit denen Sie ebenfalls Ihre eigene Webseite am nächsten Tag testen können.
