The Accessible Educator Series (Private/Internal)

13 May 2022 – 24 Jun 2022 | 1:00 PM-11:00 PM Europe/London (Birmingham, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland)

The Accessible Educator events include weekly MicroCPD videos, Showcase workshops and panel discussions and will allow colleagues at Birmingham to discuss and share their approaches, difficulties, and solutions to digital accessibility and to engage with development opportunities to develop their accessible practice. A new Accessible Educator course will invite colleagues to reflect on their current accessible practice and to consider attitudes and actions to becoming an Accessible Educator.

After School Design Clubs in London and Manchester (Private/Internal)

Make your Module Accessible (Private/Internal)

The Centre for Technology & Innovation in Learning (CTIL), University of Dundee, will be running a series of drop in sessions to help staff “Fix their Content” – we’re using Ally in Blackboard, and some workshops to help academic staff ensure their content is accessible in the first place, when they’re creating new content for next academic year.

Internal Accessibility Week – Square Enix West (Private/Internal)

For the 3rd year at Square Enix West, we’re organizing an Accessibility Week around GAAD to educate and raise awareness about accessible experiences, inclusive spaces and disability representation within our company. All Square Enix West employees are invited to assist, virtually. External speakers and advocates will be talking about their experiences, the world of accessibility and disability inclusion. This is a way for us to educate our employees, but also offer a paid gig for speakers.

Product Accessibility Open Office Hours & 12-Hour Livestream (Private/Internal)

Zendesk’s Product Accessibility team (est. 2021) is excited to be celebrating its first GAAD. We’ll be livestreaming as we test our biggest products with various assistive tech, offering our colleagues around the world a glimpse into how we work and how we can help. We’ll be available for a full 12 hours, to answer any questions from anyone who drops by.

CROMA visit (Private/Internal)

18 May 2022 – 19 May 2022 | 10:00 AM-12:00 PM Europe/Madrid (Spain)

TMC has designed the activity “Veure-hi amb les orelles, sentir-hi amb els ulls” (Listening with your ears, seeing with your eyes) as part of the CROMA programme (Fundació Autònoma Solidària). Children in schools in the area surrounding UAB have been working on the co-creation of a 360º video and have learned about accessibility services. On 18 May they will be visiting our research team at the university to show the results from their workshops.

Perficient is celebrating GAAD (Private/Internal)

Perficient is celebrating GAAD by having its accessibility colleagues share videos of how accessible solutions impact lives, and with a workshop demonstrating common tasks and the barriers users with disabilities experience when navigating the web.

For GAAD this year, we compiled a list of resources related to accessibility. But this isn’t just some boring ol’ list – it’s full of interesting, relevant and engaging topics, videos and articles! That’s how we like to do accessibility at Catalyst 😉 We shared this list of resources via email company-wide, and at our fortnightly Accessibility Forum the following week, we will be discussing our usual topics about accessibility plus exploring the resources a bit together.
