Workday’s Product Accessibility Team and the People with Disabilities EBC presents a celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)! This year, Workday is celebrating GAAD by hosting a virtual conversation with disability activist, writer, media maker, and consultant, Alice Wong. Alice lost her ability to speak last year, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t still have a lot to say. Register now to learn more about Alice’s disability advocacy, views on digital accessibility, the importance of community in combating ableism, and more.
Our first event for accessibility day last year worked out great, so we’ll continue on in 2024 with hands-on improvements to the accessibility of bitcoin software used in the wild. We’re still planning, but will likely have an introductory work-session and then facilitate test, review, and report sessions. Thanks to National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID), Secunderabad, India of the Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. Was happy to deliver the session in the National Webinar on the topic, Accessibility with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as an Enabler virtually. I believe the session was useful and created awareness among many special educators, institutional heads and on Breaking the barriers through Accessibility and Assistive Technology, by following up Global and National Guidelines for websites, documents and applications and being a change by starting our own born accessible documents.
Ampersand Collaborations Perluète Founder, Stephany Peterson, unites with Prude Inc. All Women Project Committee for a generative dialogue in digital setting. The shared intention of the gathering is the exploration of social constructs of identity, such as ageism, and how institutions and systems can embody trustworthiness in addressing these issues. A focus will be on the lived and learned experiences through storytelling and sharing, complemented with practices and concrete actions that locate barriers as issues within the environment rather than the individual.
