Digi-ID Accessible Digital Skills Education Citizen Advisory Panel

We are a EU consortium co-creating accessible digital skills education for people with intellectual disabilities. We are hosting our project’s first Citizen Advisory Panel kick off activity. Our panel is a group of seven individuals with an intellectual disability, who are part of our team. The purpose of our activity is to seek insights and feedback on topics of digital inclusion and using technology for health, well being and social inclusion.

A11yBoost Ambassador Pilot

In the spirit of ‘Global’, Scotia’s Digital Accessibility team has been working with our International partners in Latin America to grow their accessibility expertise in a manner that best reflects their own processes, products and teams. The first session is being piloted in Chile to coincide with Global Accessibility Awareness Day and will feed into our larger objective of having Ambassadors contribute and collaborate to the culture of Accessibility we are building at the bank.

A11yEgg Hunt

An open challenge to all Scotiabankers. Embedded throughout our internal knowledge base are 10 “a11yEggs” representing GAAD’s 10th Anniversary. Participants are encouraged to search for the a11yEggs as each will containing the following information: a key takeaway of digital inclusion, a recommended activity and a clue to the next a11yEgg. Participants that find all 10 and participate in specific activities are eligible to win a prize.

A11Y Quiz at Pearson Lanka

In celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) 2021, Accessibility Shared Service Team at Pearson Lanka has planned several activities starting from 17th May to 21st of May 2021. The main highlight of the week is ‘A11Y Quiz’, a Virtual accessibility fun quizzical via Kahoot platform targeted for Pearson Lanka employees. Throughout the whole week, Accessibility informative tips will be shared via emails and blog posts.

WE ABLE -Global Accessibility Awareness Day

Our virtual event is to enhance our employees across all our operating companies’ knowledge and to dig deeper into digital accessibility. We will have speakers from the W3C, as well as a team from Microsoft to show us the basic accessibility features, we already have available to us on our Microsoft Offices and how to use them to be more accessible.

Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative 2021: Future Workforce

UC/UCSF GAAD Virtual Events All Day

Multiple free events are scheduled throughout the day. We’ll start with a fast-paced webinar in the morning hosted by the University of California. Then the UCSF location is hosting multiple individual events in the afternoon on Universal Design Principles, the Interactive Process for staff and student disability accommodations, and a DEI Digital Accessibility Allies Panel to round off the day.

Accessibility workshops for designers, developer, content creators and project managers

We will have 4 almost full days of workshops; 2 Thursdays and 2 Fridays. In the first week we will begin with the basics, so that everybody will be on the same page with regards to accessibility and so that they will be able to build upon these basics. In the second week we will have an external, veteran accessibility lead presenting more advanced concepts of accessibility. We will also include people with disabilities and work together with them on some common problems and fixes.
