Creating Accessible Resources and Communications

This presentation will cover the basic rules of creating accessible resources and communications as detailed in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), while illustrating practical examples of how to incorporate them into your work. We will have speakers from across the company share how accessibility factors into their work, and we will give examples of how a basic understating of best accessibility practices are important for everyone, even those who aren’t in public facing roles.

“GAAD at BA” 2023

BA are running a series of lightning talks to cover the following themes for GAAD 2023:

  • Disability and lived experience
  • Accessibility change programmes in large organisations
  • What progress are BA making in their accessibility change programme

This will be a hybrid event of in person and pre-recorded talks.

Progress Not Perfection, Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2023

This year iCIMS will be highlighting the theme of Progress Not Perfection. This topic drives home how web accessibility is a journey, and there is always room to grow. We will talk about how far iCIMS has come in the past 7 years since we started celebrating GAAD and highlight our goals for the future! This will be a hybrid company-wide event with on-site activities in both the Holmdel, New Jersey and Hyderbad, India offices while also streaming for remote employees.

Starting with Design

CarMax & Edmunds, leaders in the automotive research and retail space, are hosting a series of discussions around the benefits of considering accessibility well before the first line of code is written. Conversations will include the development of design systems, the challenges of reducing readability to algorithms, and a design workshop.

Flexcelerate Accessibility Day

Flexion is dedicating its continuous learning “Flexcelerate” Thursday to building greater company-wide accessibility awareness and broadening our best practices. We are doing a complete takeover of Flexcelerate to help us improve our knowledge and skills about how to make the work we do more accessible and inclusive. Each guild will explore a different accessibility topic from their perspective: engineering, UX—even recruiting!

GAAD 2022 celebration

Employees are encouraged to watch LinkedIn learning course on Digital Accessibility in Modern Workplace to learn more about inclusive tools they can use in their daily work life for 15 days around GAAD and participant names will be entered in a draw for prizes.

Digital Accessibility and Fostering an Inclusive Workplace

Thursday, May 19 is marked this year as Global Accessibility Awareness Day to get everyone talking, thinking and learning about digital access and inclusion for the more than one billion people with disabilities and impairments. Thrive India is organizing a talk on “Digital Accessibility and Fostering an Inclusive Workplace” to celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day this year.

Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) meetup

We believe that technologies and the web are meant to enhance user experience instead of constraining it. Everyone must have a right to experience digital products equally and inclusively despite various disabilities. We would like to raise awareness and get everyone in the organization thinking and learning about digital accessibility and inclusion. We hope to find more like-minded colleagues through the event, who would like to find ways to collaborate and join our efforts together

D-Camps Build Event

Makers Making Change is hosting an assistive technology workshop in partnership D-Camp’s Jean Nelson Family Camp, on May 20-23 2022. Full build kits, tools and step by step instructions will be supplied to participating campers. This is a private event for attendees of the Jean Nelson Family Camp (but the camp is still open for registration). Makers Making Change is pleased to have you join us to provide assistive devices to people with disabilities in your community!
