GAAD at Twitter

To celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day, the Accessibility Experience Team at Twitter will be Tweeting tips and tricks from @TwitterA11y on using Twitter with accessibility in mind, from Tweeting with a screen reader to enabling captions and navigating with keyboard shortcuts. We’ve also added the official GAAD logo to the #GAAD hashtag for greater visibility. Lastly, we will be running a campaign to get supporters to discuss how they celebrated GAAD. Launch of the stable release of the Media Accessibility Platform

On 20 May 2021, the Media Accessibility Platform (MAP) will finally end its beta testing and release its stable version to celebrate the 10th GAAD. MAP aims at providing a unified atlas charting the worldwide landscape of media accessibility through the creation of a structured platform that acts as a hub for research, policies, training and practices in this field. The database collects publications, events, projects, training courses, legislations, regulations and guidelines on media access.

Email for All: Accessibility Survey

ActionRocket & Beyond the Envelope™ have come together in their shared passion for and commitment to accessibility, with the aim of making it real for recipients. We’ve created a short survey to help us understand the value of the accessibility implementations we make. We aim to replace what we think will improve the recipient experience with what will actually improve the recipient experience when it comes to implementing accessibility in email.

Launch of Wheelchair Workouts for Accessibility Day

BetterMe, (a wellness app 95M downloads worldwide), is rolling out new workouts for people with limited mobility to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, May 20th. BetterMe users will get: 1. Workout programs 2. In-app challenges 3. Special diet

The app is available in the Apple AppStore and Google Play.

GAAD week at Webflow

To raise awareness about building accessible web experiences and to empower people to build websites that raise the standard of accessibility on the web, we have planned: social media buzz to encourage engagement with #GAAD, a new case study, the new webflow.com/accessibility landing page, a web accessibility checklist of guidelines, a new Webflow University course, internal office hours to discuss accessibility, and announcement of upcoming internal events with accessibility experts.

Getting Ready for GAAD

From 9.00am on 22 April until Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) on 20 May, University of Brighton’s Digital Learning Team are celebrating and making change in advance of GAAD. This will include weekly blog posts featuring accessibility tips on the Digital Learning Team Blog (https://blogs.brighton.ac.uk/elearningteam/category/global-accessibility-awareness-day/). We will also share tips, tutorials, videos, and accessibility pledges using the hashtag #GAADDeeds on Twitter.

Immersive Accessibility

Immersive Accessibility GAAD at UAB will display a 360 video where some accessibility service solutions have been edited such as captions/subtitles and audio description. This is part of the research activities within EU funded projects SOCLOSE, TRACTION and MediaVerse.
